“Where should/can I go next?” is the perennial question posed by visitors to the County to the staff at our attractions, restaurants, accommodations and shops. Hanford Mills Museum’s staff believes that if visitors want to continue to play here, we have the responsibility to make some thoughtful recommendations for their next stops. We consult existing resources (print and digital) and scramble to gather information for visitors based on their interests, plans and the direction they are heading. When HMM developed the goals and objectives of our Strategic Plan, we articulated the objective of developing collaborative “stay here, play here” resources.
Explore More! is our solution for a sustainable tool to encourage visitors to patronize additional venues and to make it easy for businesses in our area to refer visitors out to other locations in our ‘neighborhood’ with current hours and information.
Currently we are accepting information for neighboring businesses (approximately within 25 miles of Hanford Mills Museum) in the following categories:
- Activities include arts, culture, recreation sites;
- Provisions include craft beverage locations, farm stands and restaurants;
- Treasures include retail establishments, shops & boutiques.
Please note: For visitors wishing to extend their stay, this page: Explore More Tomorrow! Extend Your Stay links to area lodging listing sites (regional tourism, chambers of commerce, etc.). At this time we are not able to provide a separate category for lodging businesses.
This program has been fully funded through Hanford Mills Museum since 2021 and our 2025 funding is secured. We are exploring an annual fee for 2026 of no more than $100 per partner business in order to cover cost of continued operation of the program. If other outside funding is secured in the meantime, that amount will be reduced accordingly.
